The Design Process
The old cliché “failing to plan is planning to fail” is true of many things and just as appropriate to a Garden Lighting project. Having a Landscape Lighting Design produced prior to the commencement of the construction, saves in money, time and frustration as well as ensuring the best possible result.
The design drawing is an integral part of achieving our objective of brilliant landscape lighting. At Luminance, we spend the neccessary time and effort in the production of the design drawings as they are a valuable reference for many reasons.
Here are some of the major benefits:
- as an aid in the visualisation of our objectives.
- precise quantification & location of components.
- an essential aid for the installing contractor.
- as a vital maintenance document.
The drawings are to scale and show in detail the landscape layout and will include:
- light fittings location.
- the lamp type and wattage at each fitting.
- low voltage circuit diagram & cable sizes.
- transformer locations & sizes.
- switching locations & circuits.
- installation notes.

The Legend section of the drawing details all of the light fittings used for the garden, brand, description and model number. Also the cable locations, type (whether mains or low voltage) as well as transformer brand, description and locations.

We can be involved in an advisory capacity through the installation process, ensuring that the project progresses in a professional and orderly fashion. Experience has shown us that in this process, changes will occur. Fitting locations and lamp types change, cable circuiting can vary due to unforseen site conditions. In all cases, drawings are altered to reflect the constructed situation, ensuring the validity of this vital reference drawing.
